कोयना धरण हे भारतातील महाराष्ट्रातील सर्वात मोठ्या धरणांपैकी एक आहे. हे कोयना नदीवर बांधलेले एक भंगार-काँक्रीट धरण आहे जे सह्याद्री पर्वतरांगांमधील महाबळेश्वर येथे उगवते. हे चिपळूण आणि कराड दरम्यानच्या राज्य महामार्गावर पश्चिम घाटात वसलेले सातारा जिल्ह्यातील कोयना नगर येथे आहे.
कोयना वन्यजीव अभयारण्य
कोयना वन्यजीव अभयारण्य हे एक वन्यजीव अभयारण्य आणि नैसर्गिक जागतिक वारसा स्थळ आहे, जे भारताच्या महाराष्ट्र राज्यातील सातारा जिल्ह्यात आहे. हे अभयारण्य सुमारे ४२३.५५ किमी २ (१६३.५३ चौरस मैल) आणि ६०० ते १,१०० मीटर (२,००० ते ३,६०० फूट) पर्यंतचे क्षेत्र व्यापून, पश्चिम घाटात वसलेले आहे. हे 1985 मध्ये महाराष्ट्रात वसलेले वन्यजीव अभयारण्य म्हणून अधिसूचित करण्यात आले. हे सह्याद्री व्याघ्र प्रकल्पाचा उत्तरेकडील भाग बनवते, चांदोली राष्ट्रीय उद्यान हे राखीव क्षेत्राचा दक्षिणेकडील भाग बनवते.
